Below are the stages of my buffalo painting.

I start by blocking in the basic shapes, colors, and values.

Next, I begin to define the basic structures of the face.

Now I'm putting some cool colors onto the buffalo,
and beginning to define his legs and torso.
The blue,
on the shadow side of his face, ties in with the sky.

Next I start adding texture to his coat,
and warm tones on the light side of his head and torso.

Adding more detail and building up texture.

Working on the grass, the shadow, and the legs of the buffalo.

He's done!
